Run, Run as Fast as You Can...

You can't catch me I'm The Lamington Man!
Over the past two weeks Room 4 have been innovating The Three Little Pigs story by changing the characters in the story. They have created some beautiful stories that are hanging in the class. The titles range from The Three Little Fairies and the Big Bad Witch to The Three Little Autobots and the Big Bad Dinosaur

To gain inspiration for our stories we read The Lamington Man, an innovated version of The Gingerbread Man. We then baked our own lamington men and just as they did in the story, our lamington men ran away! We had to search the school, which coincidentally allowed us to view the completed mosaics we had worked on. Finally, we found the lamington men in block four where group 1 had the opportunity to visit their buddies in room 14. We were sure to eat them quickly so they didn't run away again. The lamington men were delicious!

Arrgh, It's Pirate Day!

On June 10th all students at Yanchep Beach were invited to come to school dressed as pirates. It was to raise money and awareness for Children's Cancer. We had a marrrrvelous day!

Mosaic Madness

This week the Kindy children were involved in creating four mosaics to hang on each of the blocks to celebrate their new names. Block 1, 2, 3, 4... sounds a bit boring! Since opening we have proudly and deliberately made efforts to firstly connect with our local community and then to become an important tenant within it. Now we would like to further recognise our local community members through renaming our school blocks.
Caves, wetlands, bush and sea are the themes we have long identified as important to our local area and the teaching areas will be renamed accordingly using their Noongar name:
Block 1 will become 'Warden' - (pronounced Warh-den), recognising the sea
Block 2 will become 'Marlark' - (pronounced Marl-ark), recognising local bush
Block 3 will become 'Bilya' - (pronounced Bill-yarh), recognising our wetlands
Block 4 -  'Yorakal' - (pronounced Your-are-karl), recognsing local caves

The Three Little Pigs

Some very exciting things have been happening in Room 4 over the past few weeks. Our Talk for Writing text this term is the Three Little Pigs. We have been learning about characters and setting over the past few weeks and the Kindy children were excited to portray the characters in the Three Little Pigs by acting out the story on our floor map. They did a wonderful job! We had some very terrifying Big Bad Wolves and some convincing scared Little Pigs.
